What is ETS?

A balanced approach
to Adult Formation

ETS equips lay leaders and those seeking ordination as deacons or priests to strengthen the congregational ministry of the church.

ETS course work is at the college level.

ETS is a program of spiritual formation, instruction & study with an emphasis on the application of practical ministry.

We’re offering a learning program for those interested in Worship Leadership, Outreach or Christian Formation and are introducing the one- and three-year programs.  Priests may attend for free when accompanied by parishioners, please see the enclosed brochure & registration form for details.

For those interested in preparation for certification for licensure in Worship Leadership, Outreach or Christian Formation the learning weekend, August 10-12 is the starting point for a one-year course of study. This includes nine, monthly regional meetings, oral or written theological reflection and a total of three weekends (August 10-12, October 26-18 and February 29- March 2, 2008)

Join us for three YEARS

Open to all congregational leaders – not just those seeking ordination – who are interested in participating in the three-year ETS program, the August 10-12 learning weekend is the starting point for meeting requirements and includes nine, monthly regional meetings, written theological reflection & academically oriented papers and participation in a total of three weekends (August 10-12, October 26-28 and February 29-March 2, 2008).

ETS Makes scholarships available to those in need and strongly encourages participation of those involved in the Ministry of the Baptized. 

Program Components

  • Paul and Uda IIMentor Groups meet monthly in regional learning communities to experience spiritual growth and receive guidance in the practice of ministry.
  • Instructional Weekends provide opportunities for theological study & worship. Led by Faculty of Bexley Hall Episcopal Seminary, the weekends convene in August, October & March at the Bishop Hodges Pastoral Center in Huttonsville, West Virginia.
  • Study & Reflection -- supported by on-line tutors as participants complete assignments. Topics vary year-by-year, and include exposure to scripture, theology, church tradition and ethics.
